Exploring Chiapas
Chiapas is one of the most beautiful states of Mexico. Just look at our pictures, you will see green E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E! It will make you wonder why it is that it’s also considered one of the poorest states in Mexico, when it is so naturally rich!
Because of such beauty, it is nearly IMPOSIBLE for us to help plan mission trips to this land, and not take you to do some exploring around the jungle, the ocean, the swamps, the rainforest, the coffee plantations, and bathe beautiful waterfalls. And you GOT TO taste some of the exotic fruits! Needless to say, drink some of the best coffee.
The number one priority of your trip, of course, is fulfilling the calling that God has placed in your heart of serving the people in Chiapas and making Jesus famous, and then… Then it comes play time! You must take a break at some point and let nature take you captive.
Or, if you prefer it this way, you can stay for a bit longer after your mission trip is over and spend some time traveling around Chiapas. You will see things that you will never forget.
This past January of 2011, a team from San Diego & South Dakota came to do mission work for thirteen days. A few team members stayed five more days after that and we took off in a road trip adventure to the northern Mayan lands of Chiapas. Unpredictable situations in Mexico will always happen. And so the trip was long as we sat for hours, and hours in a private but not fancy bus driving on bumpy roads through the jungles, mountains, and rainforests. But the places were just beautiful. The memories are worth every bit of those bumpy roads.
After planning a trip like this one for the first time, many, many things were learned. And I can say with much confidence, that our next tour through Chiapas will be even better. However, the jungles, mountains, rainforests and waterfalls, those can’t get any better than that. Breathtaking!
